State Welcome Centers

Whenever you first enter a new state look for the welcome center or tourist/visitor’s bureau, which may have an office at the first or second stop along the interstate. These can be a good source of what to see and do in the state before you get half way across it.

They also have discount or two-for-one coupons for the popular attractions which can save you money as you explore the state. Ask for bird lists, wildlife viewing locations, and an event calendar also. Some welcome centers allow a free one-night stay giving you time to plan your route.
