Many RVers hang bird feeders in their campsite, especially when visiting a new area of the country, to see what birds might visit. This is a great way to discover new species.
However, birds can be messy when feeding, dispersing seeds all over the ground below the feeder. This can become a problem as the area becomes a food source for unwanted rodents who may decide to check inside your RV as well.
To avoid this problem, buy a screen from any wild bird store or online that hangs below your feeder and collects all those spilled seeds.
Or make your own from light weight exterior grade vinyl-coated fiberglass mesh (available at hardware and gardening stores) wrapped around a hoop frame of about 12 to 18 inches in diameter. Hang from feeder with four lengths of nylon cord. Empty each day and you will avoid a mouse in the house.
