If hot, dry, wildfire-plagued Texas is any indication of what lies ahead this Spring, you might want to add a folding shovel and bucket to your RV tool kit. In dry seasons some national forests will require that all campers and boondockers have these items on board to thoroughly extinguish campfires.
Use both to cover coals (which should already be cool to the touch) with dirt. Bucket can also be used to throw water on burning grass or brush if a spark should escape your fire. Keep both handy by your campfire.
