When traveling on hot days, run the roof A/C instead of the dash air. The dash air will cause you decreased mileage, stress the engine and make it run hot, and the output of the dash air is hardly enough to cool the inside of your rig.
The roof air will do a much better cooling job with a lot less effort. And when you stop for a quick leg stretch, restroom break, or to check out scenic view points, leaving the roof A/C running will leave your rig nice and comfy when you return.
If the rooftop air conditioner requires 110VAC, that means running the generator while driving, which uses gas. Has anyone done a comparison of the gas used by the generator vs. the decreased gas mileage resulting from using the dash air conditioner?
