In BG (before Google) history you had little choice when something in your RV went kerflooy but to give your RV up to a repair shop and accept what you knew was going to cost a bundle--everything did.
But Google search has provided even the ten-thumbed amateur RV Tech with a cornucopia of knowledge and information, not only to analyze a faulty thing-a-ma-jig but to also offer step-by-step directions, photos, even videos of everything from testing to completing the repairs--including the tools and parts you will need to do it.
If you haven't tried it yet, the next time you have something fail, Google it, and look at several different web pages and find the one that makes the most sense to you. You will be surprised how much you will be able to take care of yourself--as well as all the money you can save on shop repairs.
