Stop drawers and cabinets from opening when driving with child locks

For years I struggled with finding the right, uncomplicated method of keeping drawers and cabinets to stay closed while driving, especially on some of the twisty and bumpy back roads my motorhome liked to drive.

When the insides shifted or centrifugal force sprung the door or drawer, it meant my stuff would be scattered far and wide across the floor. If I was lucky, the jar of spaghetti sauce wouldn't break and I wouldn't happen to be winding around a mountain road at the time with nowhere to pull off and clean up.

I tried bungee cords (bulky and too long) and other methods but what finally worked was baby locks. They didn't have those inventions when I had babies eons ago, but now there are all kinds, from simple (and cheap), all the way up to PhD level, with prices to match. Problem solved, yet not too tedious to use everyday.

You can find various kinds on this Amazon page.

  1. We use very small bungy cords that I got at the Dollar store.

  2. Strips of double-sided Velcro will accomplish the same thing.

  3. A less expensive way- use rubber coated ponytail holders.
