Rangers might require these campfire tools

If hot, dry, wildfire-plagued Texas is any indication of what lies ahead this Spring, you might want to add a folding shovel and bucket to your RV tool kit. And don't leave them buried in a locker. Keep them handy by your campfire.

Some national forests will require that all campers and boondockers have these items to thoroughly extinguish campfires—use both to cover coals (which should already be cool to the touch) with dirt.

Bucket can also be used to throw water on burning grass or brush if a spark should escape your fire. Use shovel to scrape dry grass or other combustibles away from your campfire ring. Check with rangers whether campfires are permitted and whether a permit (free) is required.
