Most local attractions and museums, especially smaller ones, do not have the advertising budget to broadcast their uniqueness outside of the local area, and many of these museums can be a fun form of local entertainment as you travel about the country's rural landscape.
Whenever you arrive in a new area, make it a point to stop at the local Chamber of Commerce or visitor center and ask about local attractions and museums. They often have discount or two-for-one coupons as well.
It is a good way to get to know local areas, especially those outside of major urban centers, and you will find docents and volunteers at these and other local attractions eager to tell you about their local history and culture.
Many of these stops could turn out to be among your most fondly remembered discoveries. And isn't that what RVing is all about?
