Use local sources for useful area information

RVing is big business, and as such you can find local information--which may not be publicized outside the local area--in places you might not think of. If you are bringing in money to spend--and what RVer isn't--there are many local organizations and entities that are ready and willing to offer valuable information on their area.

Check with the local visitor's bureau or chamber of commerce for maps, coupons, lists of attractions, restaurants, campgrounds, shopping, etc. In small towns check with the police department on where you can sleep overnight (don't call it camping), such as in the town plaza, church parking lot, or regional park.

Also talk to local merchants on what to see and do. Remember, they want you to stay around for a few days and spend your money so will go out of their way to be helpful.
