With summer past us and more wet and nasty weather on the
way, here's a tip to make life a little bit easier when breaking camp.
You know what happens: You're at a hookup site and your
power cord and water hose are lying on that old, nasty, muddy ground. Do you
and the "better half" flip a coin to see who has to go outside and
try and get muddied up wrapping up those 'RV umbilical cords'?
No problem, no more! Reach into your basement storage
compartment and retrieve an old-fashioned oven mitt. Place the mitt on your
right hand and as you roll the hose or cable up, simply slide the dirty beast
through the mitt. All that wet and muck clings to the mitt and your hose and
cable is put away in the rig clean.
You can store the mitt in a plastic bag, or rinse it off and
let it dry in a safe, airy location.
I have been doing the exact same thing for years with an old rag. No oven mitt necessary.
ReplyDeletei just grab our 1 year old and the diaper works as its purposed for the muck and the kid likes the fun activity.
ReplyDeleteYou can do the same thing with an old sock.
ReplyDeleteI, too use an old sock!
ReplyDeleteA car wash mitt works equally well.
DeleteI do the same thing with one of those blue garage paper towels. When I'm done, I just throw it away and don't have to play with a wet, soggy mitten/glove, as well as hoping it'll dry out and not smell.
